With the start of the season underway we start things off with our annual spring tournament. As per usual it wouldn’t be the start of the season without some snow on the field for the first games. It was a great chance for us to get some reps in against some friendly opponents. First up was a tough Paul Kane team. We were able to defeat them 7-0 in a physical first game of the season. Our second game saw us fall to a balanced Ross Sheppard team 24-15. It was a good day for the first rugby of the season in the Edmonton area. Next up is the beginning of the regular season that sees us play Bellrose for the first time ever.
The first weekend in May saw us participate in the annual Ross Sheppard Rugby Tournament. This was a good chance for us to try some things and for everyone to see some field time. Game 1 saw us playing LCI. The final score was 27-5 for LCI. In game 2 we played Medicine Hat and won with a score of 21-7. Game 3 was a one sided game that saw us beat Archbishop Jordan 17-0. It was a great weekend to get us ready for the rest of the season.
This year was the first year for the combined Edmonton Metro and Public league. It proved very interesting for all teams. The season was short again this year. We played Bellerose to a 28-12 victory, Bev Facey to a 41-10 victory and WP Wagner to a 38-0 loss. We finished the regular season with a 2-1 record and second place in our pool.
